Members of the Hometown Care team recently travelled across Wales to identify potential new homes for children and young people.

Bringing together experience from nursing, social work and property, the team visited a range of locations, carefully considering each home for its suitability, setting and potential to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment.

This work comes at a time of growing demand. With over 7,000 children currently in care in Wales, and increasing pressure on foster placements, where around two-thirds of children are currently supported, the need for high-quality, local homes has never been greater.

Each property was assessed not just as a building, but as a place where children could feel comfortable, settled and part of their local community. For some young people, particularly those with more complex needs, the right residential setting can provide the stability and structure that simply isn't available elsewhere. We're pleased to have identified a number of strong opportunities and are now progressing plans to bring these homes forward.

As Wales continues its shift towards a not-for-profit model of care, this marks an important step in our growth, and in our commitment to developing homes where care, stability and a genuine sense of belonging sit at the heart of every decision.
